On this city walk we will see a cross-section of public art in Vienna over the last 75 years.
Public art has a long tradition in Vienna, which - in connection with municipal social housing - goes back to the 1920s. From the 1950s onwards, municipal buildings were constructed on a grand scale and a large number of artworks were commissioned for their walls and outside spaces. In Favoriten in particular, you can discover works of art from various periods to the present day in many places. The route takes us from sculptures, wall reliefs or mosaics in municipal buildings to new artistic works - be it installations in underground stations, temporary sculptures on Reumannplatz or the anniversary fountain in the Sonnwendviertel development area.
