SEE:UA – connecting landscapes

SEE:UA – connecting landscapes

This summer, the public space of Vienna's Seestadt will become a large collaborative art laboratory: the Land Art Symposium Mohrytsia, which has not been able to take place there since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, will be hosted there. The symposium concept and the idea of working with the landscape will be continued on the Seestadt site. The construction sites of Vienna's largest urban development area offer new ground for artistic exploration of concepts such as displacement and flight, home and appropriation.
"SEE:UA - connecting landscapes" was developed by Reinhold Zisser together with Natalia Matsenko, Yuri Yefanov and Clemens Poole, key participants of the Land Art Symposium Mohrytsia. It connects Ukrainian artists and curators with their colleagues in Austria and with students from the Department of Sculpture and Space at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Over the summer, they will work together in an experimental field laboratory with and on the construction sites and on the creation of a community at this location.
The work at this location goes back to Reinhold Zisser's "Notgalerie" project, which has been accompanying the development of Seestadt since 2017. The "SEE:UA - connecting landscapes" project will be accompanied by a program and events until the end of October.
