South Path

Michael Johannes Muik’s artistic works are marked by discrete interventions in the sound space of the immediate environment. He continued this approach with the project Sound Path (as part of Sound Barrier — Festival für Hörkunst im Raum [Festival for Sound Art in Space]). Sound Path acoustically linked the central site of the festival, the Brunnenpassage, with the Mortonfabrik/mo.ë gallery in Thelemangasse 4. Piezo-electric sound transducers which recorded the sounds of the environment, transformed them and echoed them were installed at eye level. Through this technology sounds could be localized temporarily and spatially. Thus the everyday sound image was shifted or alienated respectively, which was audible for passers-by.
